The task was to create a typography-led integrated graphic design campaign that uses type to celebrate a community and or explores a community beyond the usual expectations.
Our idea is for the people who are living in China that are under media control (the Chinese Firewall) and can’t access information outside the country.
They use VPNs there, however the most commonly known VPN in China “Freegate” is censored. Since Chinese language is based on sounds, we are taking all the words that sound like “Freedom” (but not necessarily mean Freedom) in Chinese, and list then them through the Chinese word for “Gate”.
People will read the type-led campaign understanding the sound of the words and find their way to Freegate.
